Neva Nadine Forney West, age 90, passed away on September 10, 2018 at Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Oklahoma City.
She was born to Frederick Forney and Ella Mae Stoops Forney on April 2, 1928 in Watonga, Oklahoma. Neva graduated from Greenfield High School in 1946.
She married Kenneth West on July 18, 1947 and lived most of her life as a devoted farm wife and mother. She was the quintessential farm wife, milking cows and driving the tractor in the early years, cooking, sewing, gardening and raising three daughters. Her work ethic and her recipes are part of the legacy she left her family. Neva was a part of the Greatest Generation who worked hard, did their duty, and didn’t complain. After they retired from farming, Neva and Kenneth loved to travel and saw much of the United States. Branson was one of their favorite spots, and they went there often. They were able to spend more time with family and especially loved their time with their grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of the Etna Wesleyan Methodist Church and later attended the First Christian Church in Watonga after moving from the farm.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, a sister and brother-in-law, Delores and (Gene)Thompson, and a brother and sister-in-law Garl and (Joan) Forney.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy Bristo of Vernon, Texas, Connie and (Jack) Sanders of Oklahoma City, and Kay and (Mike) Brummal of Tulsa, five grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
