Dr. Charles Coolidge West, 71, of Athens died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Ray Shubert and Dr. Andrew Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Dr. West was a retired Methodist minister, having served in Trinity, Tanner, Owens Cross Roads and throughout North Alabama. He was a retired professor from Athens State College and Martin College and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Russell West; a son, Phillip A. West of Bozeman, Montana; two daughters, Rebecca Gail West Wunderlich of Athens and Charlotte E. West Phillips of Sheffield; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Graveside services for Marion Russell West, 82, of Huntsville and formerly of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens with Dr. Curtis Coleman officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing. Mrs. West died Friday, May 6, 2005 in Huntsville. She was born September 19, 1922 in Talladega Co, Alabama, to Carl Comer Russell and Sally Ross Haywood Russell. She was a member of the Methodist faith and was active as a social service volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles West, and one daughter, Gail Wunderlich.
She is survived by one son, Phillip A. West of Orange Beach; one daughter, Charlotte E. West of Huntsville; one granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
