Served in the Civil War for the CSA in the 1st Regiment, Mississippi Light Artillery. He and his brother, William, were both captured at Vicksburg, but were later pardoned.
Married Alice E. [mnu] probably around 1869. Had a son, Robert H. in Feb 1870 and a daughter, C. E. in abt 1879. On the 1900 census Robert is listed as single so perhaps he and Alice were divorced.
