The bulk of this website is about the West family male lines which appear to originate from an Englishman born about 1612 who went or was sent to Virginia. Y DNA testing and matching has revealed about 20 living Wests with a rare value for DSY 426 = 14. The frequency of this value is in the order of 1 in 10,000. The genealogical paper trail suggests that all share a common ancestor, possibly Robert West. Where available, digital copies of primary sources have been used to obtain or verify data; otherwise the data is from trees published by individual researchers.
